Image
McKinney North defense in their 44-26 victory over Westmoore.      The Wranglers of West Mesquite head to McKinney on Thursday after a tough 56-28 loss to Longview last week. At halftime, the game was tied, but eventually, the Lobos pulled away to start district 1-0. West Mesquite (2-3, 0-1 District 7-5A) takes on the Bulldogs of McKinney North in an important matchup. Both teams head into this matchup 0-1 in district play. This is a swing game that could be very vital as the winner sets themselves up in a good position to make the playoffs as a 3 or 4 seed in the district.       With Longview and Highland Park at the top of that district, that leaves the five other teams contending for two spots. West Mesquite quarterback has thrown for 997 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions in 5 games. He is also completing 57 percent of his passes on the season. West Mesquite has used the passing attack this season to fuel their offense. T...

Keller Timber Creek four-star running back Emeka Megwa to enroll at Washington mid-season after graduating early

Running back Emeka Megwa has made the decision to graduate from Keller Timber Creek early and enroll at Washington. Megwa left Nolan Catholic in January halfway through his junior year and enrolled at Timber Creek High School. Megwa has not appeared in any of the first four games the Falcons have played this season. Washington Football made the announcement on their Twitter this morning via their website that Megwa would be enrolling at Washington early and will start classes on Sept. 29, after already landing in Seattle. Megwa was dealing with an injury, which ultimately led to his decison to head to Washington early.   During his high school career, Megwa rushed for a total of 3,092 yards and over 40 touchdowns. He did not play a snap his senior year, but he will bring a physical style of play to Washington. Megwa is a very talented back that will look to have an immediate impact for the Huskies. Megwa was selected to the All-State team last year and helped lead Nolan Catholic to...

Nolan Catholic Survives Triple Overtime Thriller in Frisco Against Little Rock Catholic

Image
FRISCO-- Nolan Catholic defeated Little Rock (AR) 36-34 in the Catholic Bowl on Saturday. Senior quarterback TJ Williams powered his way into the end zone in the 3rd overtime period to propel his Vikings to victory. Williams played with guts and it took more than one defender to get him to the ground. Williams was very patient in letting plays develop and waiting for his offensive lineman to hit their blocks. Williams also completed 72 percent of his passes on the night. The pads were popping on Saturday and Williams showed his heart with the physicality he ran with.  Sophomore running back Kewon Lacy rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Lacy showcased his shiftiness and ability to change directions and is a physical downhill runner. A number of times he broke tackles and kept moving his legs. It was a slugfest and the Nolan Catholic offensive line was very physical. They imposed their will on the Little Rock defensive line.  The atmosphere in Frisco was amazing and ...
