Week 3 Recap: Rockwall Throttles Lake Travis, Frisco Liberty Outduels Prosper Rock Hill, Euless Trinity Outlasts Colleyville Heritage
Rockwall hosted Lake Travis on Friday in a matchup between two state-ranked teams. Rockwall put on an offensive clinic with 667 total yards which led them to a 59-35 victory over Lake Travis. Rockwall quarterback Braedyn Locke completed 30 passes on 43 attempts for 506 yards and 5 touchdowns. Locke has thrown for 1,042 yards and 10 touchdowns in 3 games this season. He is putting on a passing clinic so far this season. Rockwall receiver Noble Johnson caught 12 passes for 249 yards and 4 touchdowns. The connection between Locke and Johnson has proven to be dangerous to opposing defenses so far this season. Although Lake Travis lost, quarterback Bo Edmundson threw for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rockwall is 3-0 and its high-powered offense will look to continue the momentum from the first three games into next weeks' matchup against Highland Park.
Frisco Liberty survived a close battle on Thursday night as they defeated Prosper Rock Hill 43-36. Liberty quarterback Keldric Luster accounted for a total of 386 yards and 4 total touchdowns. Luster threw for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also proved to be dangerous in the run game as he carried the ball 22 times for 122 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Liberty receiver Lawson Towne caught six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Prosper Rock Hill did not back down as they continued to fight until the end. Rock Hill quarterback Brenner Cox threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Donovan Shannon ran for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns, but it was not enough as Frisco Liberty prevailed. Frisco Liberty is off to a hot start as they are 3-0 and have scored 148 points in the first 3 weeks. They are a very dangerous team with a potent offense that can score in a hurry.
Euless Trinity won a close matchup against Colleyville Heritage 30-27 on Friday night. Trinity quarterback and Oklahoma State commit Ollie Gordon rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns as he led the Trojans to victory. Gordon is one of the best running backs in the country and there is no doubt that Trinity will lean on him if they want to make another deep playoff run. Gary Maddox rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown. The Trinity defense stifled a potent Colleyvilee offense that had been rolling heading into this matchup. They held Colleyville Heritage to 221 yards and only allowed 178 passing yards in the game. Euless Trinity will take on Boswell next week.
