Mansfield Lake Ridge spoils Mansfield homecoming, Garland continues perfect season with win over Sachse, McKinney Boyd outlasts Little Elm

Mansfield Lake Ridge spoils Mansfield's homecoming with a 44-37 victory after their defense held Mansfield to a turnover on downs with a minute left in the game. Freshman quarterback Kennen Miller completed 18 of his 24 pass attempts for 214 yards and 4 touchdown passes. He also rushed for 132 yards on 17 carries. Marcus Bryce caught 4 passes for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lake Ridge had many sophomores and juniors play important snaps in this game. Mansfield running back Tyrell Croom ran for 102 yards on 18 carries and 3 touchdowns. Dhevin Mosley caught 7 passes and scored two touchdowns for Mansfield. Mansfield quarterback Sergio Kennedy threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns. Lake Ridge safety Corey Thompson put pressure on the quarterback all night long. Lake Ridge running back Marcus Hayes had three total touchdowns with two rushing and one receiving. Week 8 Preview: Grand Prairie faces Lamar with a chance to move to 4-0 in district play, Allen faces Denton Guyer in monumental clash of giants, Cedar Hill and Desoto face off in the Battle of the Belt Line

  Grand Prairie defeated its crosstown rival South Grand Prairie on Friday at The Gopher-Warrior Bowl. Grand Prairie blocked a field goal attempt as time expired and they celebrated with jubilation after beating SGP for the first time in 12 years. Backup quarterback Adrian Wilson was 9 of 12 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns. The Gophers are 3-0 in district 8-6A and will take on Arlington Lamar this Friday. Lamar is battling for the last and fourth playoff spot in the district with Arlington and Sam Houston. All three of those teams have a 1-2 record in district play. Jaden Morris and the Vikings offense will look to repeat their performance against Bowie as the Viking offense put up 62 points. Jaden Morris, Jaylon McCoy, and Javion Green will lead the offensive attack against a stout Gopher defense. Alex Torres leads the Gopher defense with 92 tackles in 7 games.
