Week One Recap: Denton Ryan Runs Past Longview, Fossil Ridge Rushing Attack Leads the Panthers Past Azle, and Burleson Centennial Survives Late Against Prosper Rock Hill
The football season is here and week one did not disappoint. The headline of the weekend was the Jerry Jones Classic matchup at the Star in Frisco between Longview and Denton Ryan. Two successful programs in the state took the field on the biggest stage on Saturday. Denton Ryan Quarteback Khalon Davis made his first start for the Raiders. The Raiders only threw the ball 9 times and Davis completed 66 percent of his passes for 84 yards. Kalib Hicks carried the heavyload on the ground as he rushed for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns. He only carried the ball 9 times and averaged 15 yards per carry. The Denton Ryan defense held the Longview offense to 178 total yards. Longview was just not able to get anything going on offense as they were stifled by the physical Raider defense led by junior linebacker Anthony Hill.
